Isaac Wilson is about to line up against the program where his college career began. Colorado coach Deion Sanders said that Wilson will start at quarterback over Julian Lewis when the Buffaloes host No. 11 Utah on Saturday at Folsom Field. Sanders said there should have been no doubt about the choice.
It will be Wilson’s second straight start for Colorado (2-3, 0-2 Big 12). The Utah transfer took over for Lewis in the second half at Baylor on Sept. 26, then started the 29-7 loss to Texas Tech on Oct. 3 before a bye week.
CFB Fans React as Isaac Wilson Takes Over From Julian Lewis
Utah is 5-0 and has beaten every opponent by at least 14 points. The Utes have also won 2 of their 3 meetings with Colorado since Deion Sanders took over in 2023, including a 53-7 rout last season.
However, one fan believes Wilson will make the most of the revenge game. “Isaac Wilson revenge game incoming,” the fan wrote, expressing confidence in Coach Prime’s decision.
In his first start for Colorado, Wilson went 26 of 44 for 290 yards and a touchdown against Texas Tech but threw three interceptions in the second half, the last a fourth-quarter pick-six from his own end zone.

As a result, one fan expressed concern over the red flags those three INTs raised. “Looks like the pick-6 streak is back on the menu,” the fan remarked.
Sanders had earlier joked along the same lines, telling Wilson to “make sure you throw the ball to the guys on our team,” and added that Wilson does not get down on himself after throwing interceptions.
Isaac Wilson’s ‘Revenge Game’ Storyline Draws Interest
“Good to know there is a ‘revenge game’ for former Utah QB Isaac Wilson at play,” Bennett Glass, a KSL Sports contributor, wrote.
Wilson grew up in Draper, Utah, starred at Corner Canyon High School and played 10 games for the Utes, including seven starts as a true freshman in 2024. He appeared in only one game in 2025, against Colorado.
“This ain’t no different week for Isaac,” Sanders said, playing down the storyline.
However, one fan gave Colorado a shot, citing “the revenge factor” and picking the Buffaloes to pull off the upset this week.
An upset would end a three-game losing streak for Colorado, which has not won since beating Weber State 52-21 on Sept. 12, in what feels like a distant memory given everything that’s transpired since that win.
Deion Sanders’ Bet on Isaac Wilson Over Julian Lewis Draws Scrutiny
The choice itself drew a closer look. “That’s the line Deion’s betting on against Utah,” another fan replied, pointing to Wilson’s 12-of-25, 156-yard, one-touchdown outing at Baylor.
Wilson came on for the second half of that 23-13 loss after Lewis went 11 of 16 for 75 yards. Lewis, rated a five-star recruit by ESPN and Rivals, started the first four games, including a 366-yard, four-touchdown game against Weber State, and did not play against Texas Tech.

Pro Football Network’s CFB QB Impact Grade has Wilson at 71.2 this season, tied for 121st of 170 qualified FBS quarterbacks, just behind Lewis at 72.1, tied for 111th of 170.
“We want to keep the ball in between 17 and 24 pass attempts,” Sanders said Tuesday. That would be well below the 44 passes Wilson threw against Texas Tech.
