Oklahoma didn’t settle for beating No. 1 Texas. Tate Sandell’s 47-yard field goal as time expired gave the Sooners a 27-24 win in Dallas on Saturday, and the kicker then planted an Oklahoma flag on the Cotton Bowl field.
The program’s official account followed with a dig at the Longhorns, and ESPN ranked Oklahoma’s troll first among Week 6’s top postgame jabs. Oklahoma wasn’t alone, as Kentucky, Georgia Tech and Oklahoma State also aimed posts at the teams they beat.
Oklahoma and Georgia Tech Needle Texas and Duke After Upset Wins
Oklahoma’s account posted after the game with a caption that stopped mid-sentence, “It’s 6:32 and …”
Oklahoma managed only 238 yards, and two of its three touchdowns came on Dakoda Fields’ return of a blocked punt and Peyton Bowen’s 42-yard interception return. Courtland Guillory then intercepted Arch Manning with 19 seconds left to set up Sandell’s winner.
After the kick and the flag plant, Sandell asked for the Golden Hat and got it.
The kicker had missed three field goals before Saturday, as many as he missed all of last season, but went 2 of 3 against Texas, including a 53-yarder. Oklahoma improved to 3-2, and Texas fell to 4-1.

Georgia Tech’s jab came with a setup. Duke arrived in Atlanta unbeaten, and its account posted “The revenge tour continues” on Friday.
The slogan covered Duke’s rematches with teams that beat it last season, including Tulane, Georgia Tech and Illinois. “Our revenge tour, we want to go and make statements,” wide receiver Jared Richardson said after a Sept. 26 rout of William & Mary. The Blue Devils had not beaten Georgia Tech since 2019.
Georgia Tech’s Trelain Maddox kept it that way with 81 rushing yards and three touchdowns, the last from 1 yard out with 54 seconds left. Maddox’s PFN Impact grade of 79 this season ranks 107th of 374 graded and qualified FBS running backs, in the top half.
Duke drove into Georgia Tech territory in the final minute, but Gavin Strange missed a 33-yard field goal wide left with five seconds remaining, and Georgia Tech held on 28-25.
Georgia Tech’s account then had the last word on Duke’s slogan, “Tour ends here.”
It was Duke’s first loss of the season. Georgia Tech improved to 2-3 and 1-1 in the ACC.
Oklahoma State’s Sword Joke and Kentucky’s Fake Quote Jab at LSU
Hours before Oklahoma and Georgia Tech posted, Oklahoma State had already struck. After the No. 18 Cowboys beat UCF 42-28 in Stillwater, the OSU Cowboy Football account posted “Brought a sword to a gun fight,” a play on the Cowboys and Knights nicknames.
Drew Mestemaker threw for 304 yards and two touchdowns, and the Cowboys scored 18 points in the fourth quarter, including Evan Jackson’s 28-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Oklahoma State improved to 4-1, and UCF fell to 3-3.
Kentucky won the same way for the second straight week. The Wildcats beat No. 10 LSU 35-34 in overtime in Lexington, a week after a 35-34 overtime win at South Carolina that also ended on a two-point conversion.
Adam Zouagui’s 33-yard field goal with 12 seconds left forced overtime. Sam Leavitt’s 15-yard run put LSU ahead before CJ Baxter scored from 1 yard out and quarterback Kenny Minchey ran in the two-point try.
Kentucky’s post traced back to midweek, when a photo circulated online purporting to show a quote attributed to Minchey on video boards inside LSU’s football facilities. The quote said LSU’s defense had not seen anyone like Kentucky and its offensive line. Kentucky Sports Radio, part of On3, reported that Minchey never said it.

Before the game, Kentucky coach Will Stein said on Kentucky Sports Networks’ weekly show that Minchey clearly did not say it. “You don’t worry about the outside noise and don’t give anybody any locker room material. And you make it about us.”
After the win, Kentucky’s account posted the line nearly word for word anyway, “LSU’s defense hasn’t seen anyone like us or our offensive line yet.”
LSU fell to 4-2, while Kentucky, now 5-1, plays at Oklahoma next Saturday, putting two of Week 6’s trolling teams on the same field in Norman.
