On Saturday evening, the Ohio State football program suffered a disastrous loss to the Texas Longhorns on the road by a score of 24-23. The Buckeyes led this game 23-3 at one point, but they slowly unraveled from there, ultimately choking in epic fashion and letting the Longhorns get revenge after the game between the two teams last season.
In the booth calling the game for ESPN was former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit, who recently took to social media to share his reaction to the epic game.
“Incredible comeback by Texas— 21 points in the 4th Quarter. Unbelievable… This is what college football is all about!” wrote Herbstreit on X, formerly Twitter.

It was an ugly loss for Ryan Day and company, although not one that will significantly affect their chances of winning a second national championship in three years, assuming they take care of business in the much lighter games on their schedule coming up.
In the first half of this one, the Buckeyes looked like a legit powerhouse, with quarterback Julian Sayin frequently finding superstar wide receiver Jeremiah Smith open in the Longhorns’ secondary, and with the Ohio State defense forcing turnovers, including a fumble on the very first play of the game.
However, things slowly started to collapse from there, and although there weren’t any truly disastrous gaffes that caused this loss, aside from perhaps a crucial missed field goal in the fourth quarter, it was still no doubt a choke job from an Ohio State team that isn’t used to relinquishing big leads.
The Buckeyes will look to get back in the win column next week when they play host to Kent State.
