Texas Longhorns senior linebacker Rasheem Biles was named the Bednarik Award’s National Player of the Week on Tuesday after a dominant performance in the Longhorns’ 31-3 win over Mississippi State.
Biles delivered a career-best outing: eight tackles, three sacks for 26 yards lost, four tackles for loss for 27 yards, and two forced fumbles. Both forced fumbles came on sacks, including one that Maraad Watson returned 61 yards for a celebrated big-guy touchdown just before halftime. Biles helped anchor a Texas defense that limited Mississippi State to 187 total yards and just three points. It marks his first Bednarik weekly honor.
