No. 14 Tennessee (6-1, 3-1 SEC) defeated No. 7 Alabama (5-2, 3-2 SEC), 26-10, in Week 7 at Neyland Stadium.
Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer is 1-2 against the Vols. He is 0-2 in games contested at Neyland Stadium. The third-year head coach discussed the game against Tennessee in Week 7.
“Just struggled to sustain anything, keeping drives and continuity there, a penalty and came up short on a couple of fourth downs," DeBoer said. "You are just going to have to find ways to get explosives against a front like that. We struggled to do that, and turnovers early gave them good field position. They got the points, our defense did a nice job holding them to field goals. They did score every time they got into the red zone, but I thought those were some key stops to give us a chance.
"Struggled out of the locker room each half, to put some drives together. Just again, fourth and one a couple of times and coming up short. Giving them field position and the second one them taking away the opportunity we had in the red zone away from us. They did a nice job of bleeding out the clock, especially in the fourth quarter. In the second half in general they were efficient with their run game, so that gave us limited opportunities there. We have got to find ways to get them off the field.”
