It was a great day for the Ohio State football program on Saturday.

The team jumped out to a 28-3 lead over Ball State in the first half before winning 56-3. The game got so far out of reach that head coach Ryan Day took his best players out in the second half, including star wideout Jeremiah Smith and quarterback Julian Sayin.

Jeremiah Smith’s performance

Smith notched two touchdown receptions in the first half, and they were both fantastic. He beat his defender down the field 1-on-1 to score the first one before doing a beautiful toe-tap at the back of the end zone for the second one.

He even did the Heisman pose after scoring the second one and finished the first half with eight receptions for 151 yards and two touchdowns.

Julian Sayin’s performance

Quarterback Julian Sayin threw Smith the ball on both of those touchdowns and also had one heck of a game, finishing with 320 yards through the air and four total touchdowns (three passing, one rushing).

This quarterback-wide receiver duo is arguably the best in the country, and both players will have legit Heisman Trophy cases if they keep this up.

A big game awaits

Saturday’s game was more of a warm-up before the Buckeyes head to Austin next Saturday for a showdown against the Texas Longhorns. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
