The No. 25 Missouri Tigers open the season on Thursday night, kicking off the 100th season at Memorial Stadium in Columbia by hosting the FCS Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions (1-0).

Missouri opens the season without star running back Ahmad Hardy as he continues to recover from a gunshot wound to his femur during the offseason. Austin Simmons, a senior transfer who began last season as the starter at Ole Miss, takes over at quarterback for the Tigers, who finished 8-5 with a Gator Bowl loss to Virginia last season.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff began its campaign on Saturday with a 35-15 victory in Little Rock over Morehouse, a Division II program. Jalen Williams ran for a 70-yard touchdown in the second quarter and Demetric Whitlock hauled in two touchdown passes in the third period to extend the lead. Whitlock caught five passes for 160 yards and three scores while Garrison Davis finished 10-of-15 for 182 yards and two TDs and an interception before giving way to Jack Schierholz.
Thursday night marks the first meeting between the Tigers and Golden Lions.
