Kirby Smart and Georgia football slid in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll on Sunday after a 27-24 home loss to unranked Auburn Saturday.

The Bulldogs fell from No. 1 to No. 4 after their first loss of the season.

Georgia (6-1, 4-1 SEC) is still the highest ranked SEC team.

The new No. 1 is Miami, followed by one-loss Ohio State and BYU. Georgia is just ahead of No. 5 Texas Tech.

Georgia only fell to No. 4 after a weekend when five top 10 teams lost.

This is Georgia's lowest spot in the coaches' poll since it was No. 5 to end the 2025 season after its loss to Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl in a CFP quarterfinal.

Georgia has an open date on its schedule this week before playing rival and No. 24 Florida on Oct. 31 in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

The Bulldogs were hurt by two Gunner Stockton interceptions and a fumble and three personal foul penalties on a day it outgained Auburn 440 to 366.

“It’s not the last,” linebacker Raylen Wilson said. “We’re in the gauntlet now. We’re onto the next game. We’ve got to get better next week and be ready to fight (against Florida)."
