Oklahoma freshman wide receiver Jahsiear Rogers has been dismissed from the team, On3’s George Stoia reported Thursday. The reason for his dismissal has not been officially disclosed.

Rogers had missed several team activities after becoming frustrated with his limited opportunities, which likely contributed to his departure, according to Stoia. He appeared in the Sooners’ season-opening win over UTEP, playing six offensive snaps without recording any statistics. That was his only appearance through the team’s first four games of the season.

The Wilmington, Delaware, native arrived at Oklahoma as a highly sought-after recruit. Rogers was rated a four-star prospect by both 247Sports and Rivals and was listed as the nation’s No. 52 wide receiver by 247Sports. He initially committed to Penn State before changing his commitment to the Sooners in late October 2025, following the firing of Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin.

Oklahoma had high expectations for Rogers after he impressed during spring practice and fall camp. On signing day in December, Sooners coach Brent Venables praises Rogers’ ability to make plays with the ball in his hands.

Rogers was a standout at Appoquinimink High School in Wilmington. He earned first-team Delaware Class 3A all-state honors as a junior in 2024 before receiving second-team recognition as a senior in 2025. During his junior season, he finished with 37 receptions for 877 yards and 10 touchdowns.

His departure leaves Oklahoma with three freshman wideouts: Daniel Odom, Jayden Petit and Zizi Okwufulueze. Okwufulueze is the only one besides Rogers to see the field this season, playing two offensive snaps versus the Miners.

The Sooners have primarily depended on Isaiah Sategna at wide receiver. He leads the team with 20 receptions for 267 yards and two touchdowns.
