Quarterback Aaron Philo will start for Florida football against the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, according to multiple reports.

Philo has taken the majority of first-team practice reps through the Gators' first three practices of the week, Swamp247 reported Wednesday. He missed the Gators' road victory over Texas in Week 7 due to a shoulder injury he suffered during the team's homecoming loss to South Carolina the week prior.

"Both guys (Philo and Tramell Jones Jr.) are available; believe in both guys," head coach Jon Sumrall said on Monday. "We need both of those guys ready to play. That's what I'll say. And I do believe in both of them being ready to play."

The third-year transfer from Georgia Tech has completed 105 of 149 (70.5%) pass attempts for 1,341 yards with nine touchdowns and three interceptions, and rushed for 161 sack-adjusted yards and three scores in six games for the Orange and Blue this season. Philo helped Florida win its first four games under Sumrall this season, which landed the team at No. 8 in the US LBM Coaches Poll before back-to-back losses.

“He grew up close to the Athens area in Bogart,” center Harrison Moore said of Philo on Monday. “I talked to him this morning. He’s fired up, he’s ready to go.”

Jones Jr. has appeared in six games this season, completing 45 of 64 (70.3%) of his pass attempts for 407 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions, along with 75 sack-adjusted rushing yards. He got his first collegiate start against the Longhorns and threw for 155 yards on 22 of 35 passes with two touchdowns and no interceptions, along with 41 yards on the ground.
