Florida football lost its first homecoming game since 2018 with a demoralizing 38-19 loss to South Carolina in Week 6. For the second straight week, the Gators looked outmatched on both sides of the ball, completely deflating all of the positivity built up after winning the first four games of the Jon Sumrall era.

Following college football's sixth official week of play, USA TODAY Sports writer Paul Myerberg released his re-ranking of all 138 FBS teams. In it, Florida fell 17 spots out of the top 25 to No. 33 — between No. 32 Wisconsin and No. 34 Baylor.

The Gators also dropped out of the top 25 in both major polls and are now unranked in the US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25, with 32 and 9 votes, respectively.

The SEC now has nine schools in USA TODAY Sports' re-rank top 25 this week despite Florida's drop, with top-ranked Georgia holding onto the headline spot, along with Alabama (No. 6), Texas (No. 7) and Ole Miss (No. 8) among the top 10. Missouri (No. 11), Tennessee (No. 16), Kentucky (No. 20), LSU (No. 21) and Mississippi State (No. 22) round out the rest of the top-ranked teams. Oklahoma lurks in the shadows outside the group at No. 29.

Next up, the Gators return to the road to face the Longhorns in Austin on Saturday, Oct. 17. The action kicks off early with a noon ET start time and the game will be televised on ABC.
