Following Florida's signature win over Mississippi last week at The Swamp, Jon Sumrall said he didn't come to Gainesville "to be average" and that the Gators weren't "fully back yet." He promised it was coming.

Well, those words proved to be true in Week 5, showing the Gators have more work to do.

No. 8 Florida took its first loss of the season on Saturday, Oct. 3, in a lopsided 45-17 defeat to No. 25 Missouri at Memorial Stadium in Columbia, Missouri.

The Tigers took away Florida's biggest offensive strength and the driving force behind its 4-0 start, including the win over Ole Miss: the running game. The Gators managed just 42 rushing yards on 25 carries, while star running back Jadan Baugh was limited to 13 yards on 12 attempts.

With Florida forced to lean on the passing game after Missouri shut down Florida's rushing attack, Aaron Philo struggled to find a rhythm throughout the afternoon. The quarterback completed fewer than 200 passing yards for the second straight game His lone touchdown came in the second quarter on a 12-yard strike to Dallas Wilson that tied the game at 10-10.

Missouri outscored Florida 35-3 the remainder of the game.

That said, where will Florida fall in the rankings? Here's a look at where the Gators may find themselves in the updated college football rankings that are released on Sunday, Oct. 4, including the US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25:

Where will Florida fall in college football rankings after Missouri loss?

A loss to a top-25 ranked team like Missouri isn't awful in the grand scheme of things, even if the Tigers were hanging onto the final spot in both Coaches Poll and AP Top 25.

The extent of that fall remains unclear, though it's hard to envision a drop out of the top 15 for the Gators. The reason being for that is No. 14 Iowa fell to No. 6 Ohio State at home behind another dominant game by Jeremiah Smith, while No. 7 Alabama rolled over No. 16 Mississippi State, giving another team near the top 15 a loss in Week 5.

Texas Tech, BYU and LSU are the only teams currently ranked below Florida in the Coaches Poll that are either still playing or have yet to kick off in Week 5. Depending on how those games unfold, the Gators may avoid a significant drop.

Several teams in the top 15 were on bye in Week 5, including Oregon, Utah and Ole Miss, the latter of whom Florida beat last week. Here's how the rest of the top 15 fared in Week 5, and how those games might affect the Gators updated rankings:
