The centerpiece of Florida's 2027 recruiting class, Maxwell Hiller, was locked in as the Gators took down No. 7 Texas on the road.
Hiller's excitement reaffirmed his commitment to Florida despite continued recruiting pressure from both Penn State and Tennessee. The Gators' 27-24 victory has fed the offensive lineman's confidence in Jon Sumrall's coaching staff.
Hiller told Swamp247, "I don't really have any intentions of going anywhere."
Florida bounced back in Austin after back-to-back conference losses, coming back from down 17-3 in the first half. Second-year quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. led the Gators with 196 yards of total offense and two touchdown throws, while Brad White's defense stifled Arch Manning, sacking the junior and forcing a game-sealing fumble with 34 seconds remaining.
The 6-foot-5-inch, 300-pound, Coatesville, Pennsylvania, native welcomes fellow five-star recruit Easton Royal, who recently flipped his commitment from Texas to Florida this month. Hiller praised Royal's talent and importance to the Gators' future.
"He's a dude. He's a baller," Hiller said of the top-ranked wide receiver in the cycle.
Swamp247 reports that Hiller considered visiting Penn State but decided against it after discussing his future with his parents. He plans to return to Gainesville on Nov. 7 for the Oklahoma game, giving the future Gator a chance to see what Sumrall is constructing in Gainesville.
"I could feel like I could have seen this coming, knowing Coach Sumrall and who he is and what he's building down there."
