Texas A&M's disappointing 2026 season will continue after the bye week, starting with a road game against South Carolina in Week 11, followed by a home game against Tennessee, a road game against Oklahoma, and a home game against rival Texas to end the regular season.
This week, Mike Elko spoke to the media only once during Wednesday's SEC Teleconference, discussing the Aggies' recruiting strategy for the No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class and expressing steadfast support for quarterback Marcel Reed, who will continue to start despite his ongoing struggles.
Backup quarterback Brady Hart, who flipped his commitment from Michigan in the 2025 cycle, will likely only play if Marcel Reed sustains an injury, as Mike Elko continues to express his support for the senior signal-caller, feeling that his dual-threat skill set gives the Aggies a better shot at winning at least two more games to reach bowl game eligibility.
With four games left, ESPN FPI released its updated projections for Texas A&M, as a 4-8 finish, which, before the season began, seemed outlandish, is now expected from the fanbase, while this writer has a hard time finding the Aggies' next victory unless drastic changes take place, which are also unlikely.
How will the Aggies respond after bye? Hopefully with urgency and a renewed focus on running the ball.
ESPN FPI predictions for Texas A&M's final four games
- Texas A&M (48.4%) at South Carolina (51.6%) — November 7
- Texas A&M (47.4%) vs. Tennessee (52.6%) — November 14
- Texas A&M (41.6%) at Oklahoma (58.4%) — November 21
- Texas A&M (25.8%) vs. Texas (74.2%) — November 27
As you can see, Texas A&M is not predicted to win any of its next four games, including defeating South Carolina and possibly beating the Longhorns, given the emotions that are prevalent on both sides during heated rivalries.
