Oregon footballsuffered a 17-15 upset loss against the UCLA Bruins on Saturday, leaving Dan Lanning’s squad with a 3-2 record. The loss was a frustrating result for Ducks fans, and Lanning had a firm message for everyone continuing to support the program.

Following the game, the Oregon head coach expressed his appreciation for the fans’ continued support, while adding that effort must translate into results on the field.

“My message to everyone that supports this program is: I promise we’re working extremely hard,” Lanning said. “Their support is appreciated. Support doesn’t just lead to wins. There has to be a translation there in the way that you coach and the success that you have.”

Despite having the advantage of playing in front of their home crowd, the Ducks struggled to find the offensive consistency needed to overcome UCLA. Oregon failed to capitalize on several scoring opportunities, and its hopes of completing a late comeback ultimately fell short against the undefeated No. 21 Bruins.

Oregon entered the game hoping to build on its recent success. However, the absence of starting quarterback Dante Moore presented another challenge for the offense. Moore remained sidelined after suffering a concussion against USC. His absence forced Dylan Raiola to take over the starting quarterback role against UCLA.

However, Raiola struggled to establish any rhythm against the Bruins’ defense. He completed just 6 of 19 pass attempts for 43 yards and threw two interceptions before being replaced by Brock Thomas.

Thomas provided a spark in relief. He completed 11 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown. However, his late contribution was not enough to rescue Oregon from loss.

The loss raised significant concerns about Oregon’s offensive execution as the Ducks attempt to remain competitive in the Big Ten. With costly turnovers and inconsistent quarterback play undermining their performance against UCLA, the Ducks will need to address their mistakes and improve their execution before their next game against Nebraska.
