Texas A&M's 2026 season is spiraling, and the pressure is mounting for third-year coach Mike Elko, who, after leading the Aggies to the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history, is now being questioned for his offseason decision to elevate several coaches to key roles, including WR coach Holman Wiggins becoming the new offensive coordinator and play-caller.

Redshirt junior quarterback Marcel Reed struggled immensely, throwing for a career-low 106 yards, zero touchdowns, and an interception, looking, frankly, lost on nearly every drop-back pass, while his footwork was problematic, dropping back too far instead of moving up in the pocket to scan the field and hit his open receivers.

Wiggins has not been perfect, and the offensive line has been a work in progress, but Marcel Reed has disappointed in all but one start, failing to make the easy "layup" throws to move the chains, while the Aggies rank dead last in explosive plays of 20-plus yards.

Defensively, Texas A&M's secondary, which looked like a strength coming into the season, gave up 312 passing yards and two touchdowns to LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt, including 125 yards and a touchdown on a play targeting senior cornerback Dezz Ricks.

After losing to LSU 35-6, Texas A&M will host Arkansas, as the Razorbacks are coming off an impressive win over Tulsa, led by former Texas A&M wide receiver Chris Marshall, who reeled in nine receptions for 195 yards and a touchdown.

Statistically, Texas A&M has a few key advantages over the Razorbacks, including run offense and defensive efficiency, and it ranks 10th in third-down defense, which has never been an issue under Mike Elko. Arkansas's only advantages are third-down offense and explosive-play defense (86th), which is why the Aggies are 14-point favorites.

It's do-or-die for the Aggies, which starts with blowing out Arkansas at home and sending a message.
