Colorado football hoped backup quarterback Isaac Wilson could give it a spark offensively after the Buffaloes had scored more than 13 points only once in its previous four games.
It didn't quite work, as Wilson committed three turnovers in the Buffaloes' 29-7 loss to No. 10 Texas Tech on Saturday, Oct. 3. Colorado also tried multiple trick plays, all of which were sniffed out by the Red Raiders.

It doesn't help that a few Texas Tech fans claimed they found Colorado's opening scripts for the first and second half at the lobby bar of the Buffaloes' hotel. While it sounds like another Mike Leach fake play call sheet situation — maybe Colorado had the idea because of Leach being a former Texas Tech coach — a social media video showing Colorado's plays lined up perfectly with the play call shown in the video.

Colorado scored its lone touchdown of the game on its opening possession, which ended in an 8-yard touchdown pass from Wilson to Joseph Williams to cap off a nine-play, 75-yard touchdown drive. The Buffaloes took a 7-3 lead into halftime, but Texas Tech scored 29 unanswered to win handily.
The Texas Tech message board post shared on X said, "Seriously, how can we get this to the Texas Tech team?"
It might not ever be known if Texas Tech acquired Colorado's play sheet, but it wouldn't be the most shocking idea. Thanks to its former coach's famed ploy as the offensive coordinator at Oklahoma, maybe the Red Raiders would've taken the plays with a grain of salt.
Still, it's not a fantastic look for Colorado, which continues to struggle this season as it fell to 2-3 on the year — which follows a 3-9 finish in 2025 — under fourth-year coach Deion Sanders.
