On Tuesday, three-star receiver Kentorion King announced his commitment to Charles Huff and the Tigers. King originally committed to Colorado State during the summer but flipped his commitment to Memphis after taking a pair of visits.

The receiver held 21 offers, according to 247Sports, and he took visits to Tulane, Colorado State and North Texas in addition to Memphis. He becomes the ninth commit for the Tigers in the class of 2027 and the second receiver in the class, joining fellow Texan Aubrey Johnson.
King played for Midlothian before transferring to Waxahachie for his senior season. Through eight games this season, he has recorded 344 yards and three touchdowns on 21 receptions.
According to On3, King took an unofficial visit to the UAB game on October 10 and an official visit over the weekend for the Army game. King announced he received an offer from the Tigers a day after his unofficial in early October.
King is ranked the No. 208 receiver and the No. 210 player in Texas in the class of 2027.
Last week during his weekly press conference, Charles Huff mentioned taking a trip to Waxahachie to see King’s game, but he didn’t mention the player. It came up while he was answering a question about his name coming up for openings and how he is having to tell people where he is because they’ll think he’s interviewing for a job.
“I go recruiting in Waxahachie, Texas, Friday night to see a kid play, and I’m interviewing at Baylor,” Huff said. “I don’t even know what that means. I was going to see the receiver at Waxahachie, but that’s the way the world is today.”
King looks like he can be a big-play threat at the collegiate level, and he’s averaging 16.4 yards per reception. His mid-season highlight tape shows him breaking tackles and breaking away from cornerbacks, and the tape says that he can sprint 22 mph.
He runs a 4.4 40-yard dash, and as you can imagine with that speed, he also competes in track and field.
The Tigers’ class of 2027 rank No. 119 in the country and No. 10 in the American, but Huff said earlier this season that the his expectations this year is to have a smaller class in 2027 and focus on the class of 2028 and later. Seven of the nine commits are offensive players, while the two defensive commits are both cornerbacks.
Several other recruits were inside Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium on Saturday, and JUCO cornerback Collin Flanigan and three-star safety Lo’Kavion Jackson were also on official visits. Offensive tackles Caleb Canty and Jaydien Mullins were on unofficial visits.
Canty, a three-star offensive lineman from McCalla, Alabama, posted his final three on Sunday and included Memphis along with Ole Miss and Florida State.
