Blake Betton Flips To Wisconsin
2027 three-star linebacker and Penn State commit Blake Betton flipped to Wisconsin over the weekend:
Betton visited Wisconsin for the Badgers’ upset win over USC last weekend, and the visit was enough to flip him away from Penn State. He has visited Penn State four times since April. His other power conference offers include Michigan, Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, Minnesota, Auburn, Virginia Tech, Missouri, and Michigan State. This is a tough loss for Penn State’s 2027 recruiting class, but there is time to flip him back.
Penn State Offers Rutgers WR Commit
Penn State has extended an offer to 2027 wide receiver Arnold Mugerwa, who is currently committed to Rutgers:
Mugerwa has visited Penn State twice. Most projections have Rutgers holding on to him, but Penn State is seeking to keep the Johnstown native in the state. His other power conference offers include Michigan State, Pitt, Florida State, Virginia Tech, and Texas A&M.
Penn State Offers Top 100 Edge Rusher
Penn State has extended an offer to 2029 four-star edge rusher Tristan Alexander:
Alexander is one of the top prospects in Pennsylvania for the 2029 cycle, though it is still very early. His other power conference offers so far include Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Rutgers, South Carolina, Nebraska, Washington, and Texas A&M.
2029 Safety Schedules Penn State Visit
2029 Maryland safety Trey Wells has scheduled a visit to Penn State for the November 21 game against Rutgers:
Wells has already fielded offers from Miami, Florida, Ole Miss, Auburn, Florida State, Texas A&M, Oregon, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech. Penn State has not formally extended an offer, but that seems likely to change after the visit in a few weeks. Maryland is prime recruiting territory for Penn State, and the Nittany Lions will especially need to capitalize on recruiting the state with the news of Mike Locksley’s firing.
Penn State 2027 Class Slips To No. 23
Penn State’s 2027 class was hanging around No. 20 for a while, but the class has now dropped to No. 23. This ranking may not be the best indicator anymore, as most teams now heavily supplement their recruiting classes with the transfer portal. But the program’s recruiting momentum has screeched to a halt and has started to regress. It also seems likely that the team will fall a few more spots by the end of the cycle, as several teams below PSU have higher recruiting averages but have not filled out their classes yet.
