The Auburn Tigers return to the field on Saturday after their bye week to play No. 1 Georgia. They will be looking to pick up their first win over a No. 1-ranked team since their win over Alabama in 2017. That season was also the last time Auburn defeated Georgia.

After the bye week, where do the Tigers fall in the latest ESPN Football Power Index rankings?

Despite not playing in week six, Auburn took a massive hit in the latest rankings. However, the ESPN Football Power Index still projects the Tigers to pick up enough wins to make it to a bowl game, but their chances have dropped in the past week.

Here is where Auburn stands in the ESPN FPI after their bye week.

Overall: No. 31

Auburn did not have an opponent in Week 6, but dropped seven spots in the latest ESPN FPI rankings after being at No. 24 over the previous three weeks. Auburn's upcoming opponent, the Georgia Bulldogs, stay at No. 2 despite being the top team in both the Coaches and AP Poll. Auburn is now No. 13 among SEC teams after being at No. 11 after their loss to Tennessee.

Chance to win six games

After Auburn lost to Tennessee, they had a 75.3% chance of winning six games. They dropped in that category to a 68.5% chance to become bowl eligible. The ESPN Football Power Index projects the Tigers to end the season with 6.1 wins and 5.9 losses. It will be a tough road to earn those six wins with just three wins after five games. They are still only favored in games with Arkansas and Samford. They will need to upset either Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, or Alabama to play in the postseason.

Early Auburn at Georgia prediction

According to the ESPN Matchup Predictor, Auburn has a slim chance at victory at 9.7%. That is a slight decrease from the previous week at 11.3%. The Tigers are looking to avoid losing to the Bulldogs for the 10th consecutive meeting. Over the last 20 meetings in the rivalry, Auburn is 3-17 against Georgia, with wins in 2010, 2013, and 2017. Georgia became the No. 1 team in both polls after a 20-17 win over Alabama.
