Kentucky defeated LSU in their last game. It was a huge win for the Wildcats, who are now 5-1 overall. The team is also 3-1 in the SEC.

Kentucky has not been afraid to gamble. The Wildcats have won their last two games in overtime, over the Tigers and also South Carolina. In both games, Kentucky went for two and succeeded in order to win.

“I love the way Kentucky is playing…..I think you can see Kentucky’s confidence growing game by game,” Davis added.

Will Stein is showing Kentucky football fans what he can do

Stein is in his first year in Lexington. He previously worked as offensive coordinator at Oregon, where he helped the Ducks reach the College Football Playoff in 2024 and 2025.

Stein was overjoyed to see his team defeat LSU at home. The Tigers are led by another first-year head coach in Lane Kiffin.

“I’m in shock. We’ve got a really good football team. People count us out. I took a picture of (ESPN) College GameDay this morning; everyone picked LSU. Keep doing that. It gives us a lot of fuel,” Stein said after the game, per the Associated Press. “It wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t perfect. We just kept chopping. We kept fighting.”

Even though Stein is an offensive-minded coach, his defense came up with the stops needed to defeat LSU. Kentucky won despite having several defensive players down with injuries.

“It’s just tough to stop those guys. I mean, Sam Leavitt’s really good. They got big backs. They were throwing it all over the yard. This is not to discredit our defense, our defense made some unbelievable plays and takeaways and dealing with injuries,” Stein said.

The Wildcats next play Oklahoma on Saturday.
